Community Service Project:  Ronald McDonald House of New Brunswick

Ronald McDonald Houses and programs help alleviate some financial expenses for families with sick children receiving treatment at local hospitals. The families and/or patients can stay close to their loved ones at the welcoming houses, without experiencing the burden of a hotel room.

Leigh DeProspo is coordinating the donation. She will be purchasing gift cards of various denominations (Target, Walmart, ShopRite, Stop& Shop & Amazon) and delivering them.  You can make a donation by sending to Leigh via Venmo: @Alyce-DeProspo, note Ronald McDonald House.

The Nominating Committee solicits the membership for input during the selection process and it is deemed that the nominees presented are the candidates of the membership. However, any member in good standing in the Association may make additional nominations by petition. The member must contact the President at least 15* days prior to the annual meeting, submitting the petition in writing, endorsed with the signatures of at least 10 other members, as specified in Article IX, Section 1 (c) of the Association’s bylaws. April 2022 Program: “Knowledge Is Power: Financial Strategies for Women” 🗓

Speaker: Niraj Chhabra, CFP, MBA, CRPC, CLTC, BFA

Financial planning is different for men and women. Women have the challenge of balancing career with family, historically have made less money and therefore earn less in social security, live longer, and are typically the ones who care for aging parents. Niraj Chaabra from Ameriprise Financial has put together a program for NJLLA members that addresses these concerns and other potential pitfalls.

Niraj will touch on the following topics during the 45 minute program:

  • Preparing to be a caretaker for parents
  • Life insurance & protection planning
  • Retirement planning
  • Budgeting
  • Tax reduction strategies
  • Managing health care expenses in retirement: what baby boomers need to know about Medicare and long-term care
