President’s Message

Greetings! Welcome to a new year for NJLLA Members.

I hope that everyone who attended the May Annual Meeting & Workshop found it to be a worthwhile and forward-thinking program. Our speakers, Steven Lastres and Patrick DiDomenico, illustrated the ways in which law librarians are innovatively managing legal information in a new world of Knowledge Management, Intranets, Portals and Web 2.0.

I was privileged to attend the Rutgers School of Communication, Information and Library Studies Sixth Annual Award Ceremony. At the reception, which followed the ceremony I talked with Andrea Simzak, winner of the Virginia Till Lemon Award. This Award, donated by NJLLA, is for outstanding performance in the MLIS program and a demonstrated interest in law librarianship. Congratulations, Andrea, and best wishes for the future.

Summer is a fun, busy time for everyone, and it is right around the corner. Summer is also time to recharge our professional batteries at the AALL Annual Meeting in Portland. The Program is themed, “Energize, Explore, Evolve,” and promises to be a good one. I look forward to seeing many NJLLA members in Portland on July 14 at the ALLUNY/LLAGNY/NJLLA Joint Cocktail Reception. This will be a nice way to unwind from the day, and talk with other members of our extended local law library community.

Enjoy the last few weeks of spring!
